What is 97 survivor series?

The 1997 Survivor Series was the 11th edition of the WWE pay-per-view event. It took place on November 9, 1997, at the Molson Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The event is best known for the controversial finish to the main event, known as the Montreal Screwjob.

The main event featured a match between Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart for the WWE Championship. During the match, referees were mistakenly instructed to call for a submission even though Hart did not actually submit. This led to a confrontation between Hart and WWE owner Vince McMahon, with Hart spitting in McMahon's face and destroying equipment after the match.

In other matches, Steve Austin defeated Owen Hart to retain the Intercontinental Championship, and The Legion of Doom and Ahmed Johnson defeated The Nation of Domination in a traditional Survivor Series match.

The 1997 Survivor Series attracted 290,000 pay-per-view buys, the highest for a non-WrestleMania WWE PPV event at that time.
